We Are Human: Why This Core Value Matters More Than Ever

Most people think hiring a cleaning company is about getting a spotless home. And sure, we’re really good at that. But if you’ve worked with us, you know it’s about something more.

It’s about trust. It’s about people. And it’s about doing things the right way.

One of Our Core Values is Simple: We Are Human

We all have off days, make mistakes, and miss things sometimes. What matters is how we handle it, with respect, honesty, and real conversation. But that’s only part of the story. We didn’t just create this value to give grace. We created it to protect our people. Because in this industry, it’s far too common for cleaners and home helpers to be treated as “less than.” And we don’t accept that. Not for a second.

Recently, one of our team members was confronted while doing her job. She was yelled at, accused of doing something illegal, and told to leave. She was scared. Shaken. Trying to translate what was happening on her phone while someone towered over her.

The hardest part? She knew it wasn’t just about the situation. She felt it was about who she was.

This is someone our clients love. Someone who gets requested by name. Someone who takes pride in her work and lights up when a client says, “My favorite cleaner is here today.”

So what do we do with that? We don’t ignore it. We don’t brush it off. We build systems around it, we talk about it as a leadership team, we train our staff on what to do in situations like this, and we put policies in place to protect them. Because “People Over Profit” isn’t just a line, it’s how we operate.

How We Show Up and What We Expect

At Wheatley Creek Services, we take a lot of pride in the work we do and the way we do it. We show up on time, communicate clearly, and treat every home with care and respect. That’s the standard our clients count on. And just as importantly, it’s the standard we hold for how our team is treated. Because we are human.

Respect Goes Both Ways

Our team members are trained professionals who take pride in their work. Many of them have been with us for years, and they are a big reason our clients continue to trust us with their homes. We ask that all interactions with our team be respectful and appropriate, including speaking respectfully, avoiding aggressive, confrontational, or discriminatory behavior, and allowing our team to complete their work without interference or pressure.

Safety Comes First

If a situation ever feels unsafe or uncomfortable for our team, they are instructed to leave the property and contact our office immediately. We will always follow up to understand what happened and determine next steps.

Communication Is Key

If something feels off during a service visit, we want to hear about it. The best way to resolve anything is with a quick, direct conversation with our office. We’re always happy to make things right.

Our Commitment

We invest heavily in our team through training, support, and systems that ensure consistent, high-quality service. Because when our team feels respected and supported, they do their best work.

Bigger Picture

This is what diversity, equity, and inclusion actually looks like in a small business. Not a poster, not a policy sitting in a binder, but real decisions, real investment, and real protection. At the end of the day, we’re not just cleaning homes. We’re building a team. And that team deserves to feel safe, respected, and proud of the work they do.

Because we are human. And we act like it.
