A new school year comes with plenty of excitement. Fresh notebooks. New teachers. Busy mornings. Kids looking for the backpack that was sitting by the door five minutes ago.

It also brings classroom wish lists filled with the supplies teachers need to welcome students back. From pencils and folders to books, storage bins, and classroom materials, many of those items are purchased with teachers’ own money.

That adds up quickly.

Teachers already give so much of their time, energy, and care to their students. Helping with classroom supplies is one practical way to make the start of the school year a little easier. This year, Wheatley Creek Services is helping take one of those expenses off a local teacher’s plate.

We’ve already helped fulfill classroom wish lists for two fifth-grade teachers, Ms. Luque and Ms. Kaluzny. Now, we’re looking for one more Grand County teacher to support with up to $150 in classroom supplies.

It’s a small way to thank the people who spend the school year helping local kids learn, grow, and feel supported.

Teachers do much more than teach lessons. They create classrooms where students feel welcome. They keep extra supplies ready for the child who needs them. They spend evenings preparing activities, organizing materials, and getting ready to do it all again the next morning.

A lot of that work happens quietly.

Supporting a classroom wish list is a practical way to say thank you. It helps a teacher get the materials they actually need without adding another expense or another errand before school begins.

Sometimes that means books and folders. Sometimes it’s markers, glue sticks, storage bins, tissues, or extra pencils.

None of those items seem especially big on their own. Together, they help a classroom feel prepared and ready for the students walking through the door.
